transmission problems

I got a chance to test the TCC switch. Electrically it checks out, and i adjusted it. Its just above fully depressed (1/8 in of the plunger exposed). No change in the behavior on the highway, still do not see a change in the RPMs when i press the brake pedal slightly. It is possible i have it adjusted incorrectly? or Is the TCC solenoid not working properly? Any ideas would really help. Thanks again and in advance.

No change in RPM tells me the TC isn't locking up. You may have it to far in. Adjust it way out so you know it'* not working. Also, what is your RPM at 60mph?

I readjusted the switch, but I have not had time to drive it yet. It may have been in too far. I actually removed the switch again and put it in a clamp (just to hold the plunger). I turned it a half turn until the resistance changed. Got a good idea of where to start. I will update when I get a chance to drive it.

Just an update
So I at about 106500 miles, and the transmission may well be telling me it is ready for an overhaul. I am not planning on doing the PCS solenoid myself, which leaves me with a $600 job. A full rebuild in place was quoted to me for about $1700. I am tempted to have the rebuild done, just for no more worries.
The shudder is gone thanks to the write up on the solenoids behind the brake pedal (thanks Dan!). Sorry for the delay in an update. Thanks for all your help, pointers, and opinions.

Hi Im having a hard time trying to figure out where to ask a question so I will try here..
I have a 2000 Bonneville SE that will not move in 3rd or 4th gear from a stand still but if I shift down into 1st or 2nd it will take off as long as I am easy on the gas pedal and then when it gets up to about 2000 RPMs or more I can shift up to the next gear and after I feel it grab I can give it the gas and it will go like nothings wrong. This works in 3rd and 4th gear too. If I don't wait till I feel the shift grab it will slip until I let off and let it catch then as I said its like nothings wrong. I just bought the car and I appreciate any help I can get. I still have and love my 96 Bonneville but its getting older so I need a Backup .. Thanks

Welcome to GMForum!! This thread is a bit old, and in the future, please start a new thread. Just go to mechanical and maintenance for your year/vehicle and start. If your post is misplaced, the moderators will move it.
So to clarify, you have your car in "D" or "3" and it will not move. If you switch to "2" or "1", the you are able to accelerate and shift into "3" and then "D", as the car is now up to the correct speed? I admit i am just learning about transmissions, but I will send one of the moderators a message, and he can grab your post.
Again, welcome to GM Forum Darrell.

So, another update on the shift kit. I am just about to hit 112k miles. The transmission is still very consistent in shift speed, strength, etc. The fluid smells fine and is still pink. I am glad i switched to dex-VI. I have not plans to get the trans rebuilt for now. Thanks for the help. My first "performance" mod, even though it was a patch .
