sun roof drains (pains)
2000 ssei,both front sun roof drains were leaking into car, found this while interior and rug was out .located the drains inside wheel wells behind plastic stone sheild cleaned them poured water in holes of sunroof still came in car,next i pulled on the drain on drivers side it came rigt out ,and the pain began ended up haveing to remove kick panel,Ebrake pedal to find a rubber sound deadener, now i could have removed intior dash at this point or cut the rubber I chose to cut the rubber snake the rubber hose back to plastic line that comes from the sun roof reconected the to put a zip tie around the two checked with water that side was good .Passengers side was a little easier removed glove box cut rubber reconected lines zipped tied them checked with water all good reinstalled all dash componenets,

I'm having the same problem. I just discovered it today. I used my air compressor to try and blow out the line and I felt air movement around the rubber sound shield. Is this not a one piece drain hose?

Actually it is a 2 piece hose. The bottom piece is black rubber and has a grommet and nipple molded on to the bottom end. This is the grommet and nipple you can see in the rear of the front wheel well if you remove the plastic wheel liner. The top tube is a harder white polyethylene tube that pushes on to the connector at the front corner of the sunroof tray. The two pieces are joined together in a slip fit behind the IP. This slip fit is the main reason we have problems with the drain tubes. When the nipple gets plugged up with crappage, water backs up the drain tube and the pressure causes the two tubes to come apart at the slip fit.
The best fix is to run a one piece polyethylene tube from the sunroof down to the wheel well. Use the grommet, nipple and the last 4" to 6" of the lower black rubber piece, and force it on to end of the poly tube.
Let me know if you decide to do this, and I will give some some pointers.

The only way to do it is to fish a wire down the existing tube, tie the wire off to something in the wheel well, pull the old tube out (leaving the wire) and feed the new tube in over the wire. I used multi strand wound wire cable, similar to what you find on your garage door springs, except slightly smaller in diameter. If the bottom tube is seperated from the top tube pull the bottom tube out, feed the wire down the top tube, and with a flashlight and a piece of coat hanger bent to form a hook on the end you can fish the wire out the hole in the fender liner where the lower grommet was located.
Trying to feed the tube in from the top without a wire to guide it is a sure fire way to spend a very frustrating day.
The good news is the polyethylene tube is a standard size available at any hardware store. I think the actual length for the front tubes is around 4 feet. I bought 10 feet of tubing and it did both of my front ones. The tubing is only about $0.35 per foot or something like that.
If you do change the tubes, make sure you put a zip tie or some sort of clamp on the tube at the corners of the sunroof tub. From the factory they are only pushed on, and it is very common for them to get seperated. This is the first thing you should check if you have a wet headliner on a sunroof equipped vehicle.

I found the rubber sound guards on both sides had already been cut. It seems the original owner must have had the same problem. Both the front left and right hoses had come loose. I was able to get a small zip-tie on the driver'* side last night and today I am going to try and zip tie the passenger side drain tube.
I also noticed the drip tray in the rear of the sunroof is sliding freely. When you retract the sunroof, it does not come back into place correctly. I found broken plastic pieces in the sunroof assembly that look like they came from the drip tray clips. When I retract the sunroof, the shade goes too far into the head liner...the grab handle on the front almost disappears into the head liner. When I close the sunroof, the shade moves forward but the drip tray does not return to the correct position. Any ideas?
