Good question. If the switch gets old, is kinda in/out it, the 15 mins might be long enough to let the oil cool down and let it do whatever it needs to do. I have the sensor on my oil pan but have never had a prob with it.

I've personally never seen one fail, so I couldn't begin to tell you the possible modes of failure or odd symptoms it could produce.

Weird...I pulled it out while the engine was off, turned it to the run position, no error on the dash and it started. Shut it off, scratched my head, jumpered the plug got back in the car turned key to run and still have no error on dash, and it started fine. Oil pres registered both unplugged and jumpered. I have seen that light on once, but that was it. Maybe I had a junk piece of wire or something.

The new battery is operating fine and so far no stall or fail to start .....but last week before it happened again it had been running fine for the week prior.

Time will tell.
5 weeks left to kill this problem dead.

Did you have the old battery checked?

The old battery looks fine and put out 12.4 volts compared to the new one at 12.7 v
The dot was still green.
I will keep it as a spare or for my bear trap.

I'm thinking you may have reset the computer with the swap. Good luck, I hope it works out well. Besides, you can't go wrong with an Optima

Oh yes it reset. All the pre-sets went to default.
But I'm teaching it the right way.
