Yeah, 28k sounds early for a wheel bearing but mine was electrical signal inside the driver'* side hub. Mine waited till 42K to go out. A Tech II caught the problem.
My symptoms were identical to ddalder'*. Very weird. I chased that problem for 5K miles before I finally broke down and had the dealer scan it. When he found defective abs signal from wheel bearing I was very surprised.

My SSS light comes on randomly at highway speeds. I have several different code readers and none pull a code. Even right after the SSS comes on. Is this the steering wheel position sensor failure that haunts these cars? If so, where is it located and how easy is it to replace?
