Recently I had my car at the dealer. When I went to pick it up they left the key in the car killing the battery. Needless to say I had them replace the battery. But now when I am driving I am getting intermitten surging. They said it is due to the CAI but I don't believe that because I ran it for 20k with no problems. The only thing I could think is the fact that I descreened my MAF and by the dealer killing the battery it reset the computer and now it having a hard time adjusting. Anyone run into this problem??

The other problem is my service stability track system keeps coming on I had it to the dealers about 8 times so far. Could this affect the surging.

I know I need to go to a different dealer.

Anybody have any ideas. I narrowed it down to driving on the freeway and hitting anywhere between 1 to 4lbs of boost.

I believe stabilitrak works through applying one or both front breaks and retarding spark. I would think if the stabilitrak is improperly pulling timing this may result in power being reduce and returning with a surge once spark is restored.

I would also have my MAF and fuel injectors checked. A MAF can be damaged relatively easily. An incurate MAF reading may result in a lean condition and thus detonation or pre-ignition. This may also result in surging or unusual transmission behavior, as the PCM uses the MAF to determine load which is a key factor in shift firmness/speed.

My brother blew a pistion and damaged one of his heads due to a lean condition created by a bad MAF.

You may also get a service stability system light if the PCM detects unexpected data from wheel speed sensors. This can occur if the sensor is malfuctioning either due to damage/failure or even material stuck up in your wheel wells. I had this happen to me last winter after driving in deep snow.

The light came on. I shut the car off, and pulled all the snow away from wheel wells and started the car back up and light went away.

Put the MAF screen back in and leave it in is my suggestion. See if that helps it. Also the stabilitrak system may be engaging for some reason if its faulty. Do you get the Stabilitrak system active message in the DIC at all?

I agree with Rogue on putting the MAF screen back in, it helps straighten out the airflow. Once done, disconnect the battery for half an hour to reset the PCM. Connect the battery again and go for a test drive.

Take a good look around the engine bay also to see if something got misplaced or moved while at the dealer.

Be sure to notice if there are any messages on the DIC or a SES light and let us know how it goes.

Everytime I drive the only message I get is the Service stabilitrak system. I'l put the maf screen back in also.

no the boost gauge bounce. You can only feel it. I haven't changed anything but the surging has gone away.
