I have a bad passenger side rear strut mount. I have looked at it and want to know if I can fix it from the top. It looks as if I could buy the part and drop it in from the top but I am not sure. Can anyone inform me what the actual procedure is?

It bolts up from the bottom, but replacement is a breeze. Did the shock shaft go through the mount? Seems to be a relatively common occurrence. Sometimes, when it does it, it sorta presses itself into the mount, and you have to get a new shock also.

Just pop the cover off from inside the trunk, remove the two nuts, take two bolts off the bottom of the shock, and you have it out. Before you remove it, you may want to take the large nut off the top of the shock while it'* still in the car.

Isn't there a rather strong spring to contend with?

Not in the same manner as the 90'*. The rears are shocks rather than struts, so most things still hold together as the shock is removed.

That being said, I would still suggest supporting the lower control arm with a jack stand as a safety precaution. Thanks, Bill.

Yup the old one was fine, just a bad mount.
