wish I would of known about this earlier. my 97 has been bubbling since before 80,000 miles and now it has 108,000 on it, guess I"m out of the paint warranty. This really pisses me off too because I have RUST along the bottom of hte car where paint fell off, and the clear coat is pealing on my trunk, plus my hood along the first 1" of the hood is bare metal now. It'* horrible! If only I had known before I got to over 100,000 miles

My car went in tonight to get the hood redone. In looking over my hood, there is far more corrosion inside the front edge of the hood where it is completely out of sight. What I saw on the hood itself was just the tip of the iceberg. I would strongly recommend to people with 2000s to open the hood and look at the underside of the leading edge. If you see any bubbling, get to the dealer right away while the corrosion part of the warranty is still in effect.

So i have the same bubble on the top of my hood. I took it into the dealer the other day and learned that i only have a Rust through warranty. He didnt' sound to thrilled when i said i could go home and put a drill hole through it.....SUCK.

It took the dealer 4 days to redo the hood. I talked to the body man and he said that there was a very involved prep procedure before he could paint. He did a really nice job to the point where the hood looks better than when new. No more hand print in the paint.

I just noticed I've got some bubbles starting on the edge of my hood too. Or, as my dad so fondly calls them..."hood herpes"....and of course out of warranty grr

Don't be too quick to decide that you are out of warranty just because you have a 2000. Mine is a 2000 with 56,000 miles so it was out of mechanical warranty but GM covered it with no questions under the corrosion warranty.
BTW, I wouldn't think that based on your age, you'd be a Supertramp fan.

Nothing venured, nothing gained. Maybe they'll split it with you if you give them some sob story about trying to get in to see them but never had the time.
