Default P1404 and P0336 even with known good EGR valve

Well I changed out the motor mount and after that I changed out the oil sender unit. Well the motor quit moving and now it has regular oil pressure...after 2 minutes of driving, I received the first SEL light since I've had the car....

DTC P0336 Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Circuit

that was the first one..I cleared the code and it did not come back....I figured I had nudged the wire for the crank sensor when I was changing out the oil sender....no big deal.

20 minutes later I get a

DTC P1404 Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Closed Position Performance

I get this every 5-10 minutes for the next hour I drove..it came on about 8 times.

My question is that are these two codes related?

I swapped the EGR from a 2000 GTP and the problem still exists even after clearing the code it comes back...Any thoughts?

The 2 are not related and sounds like your on the right track.
The egr is more of a nuisance thing and wont effect performance.

Excessive deposits on the EGR valve pintle or seat--Remove the EGR valve and check for deposits that may interfere with the EGR valve pintle extending completely or cause the pintle to stick

Clear all codes and go for another test drive to see if any come back, re seating the egr may have done the trick and like you say you may have bumped the crank sensor harness.

Well I cleared the code and it came back again with a known good egr valve from a GTP..twice when I was test driving it.

Then I put the old egr valve in and just got done from a decent drive and the SEL light has yet to come on...the only other thing I did at the time was change out the check engine light (swapped cluster for an unrelated issue)

WTF!!!

Is the gasket in good shape? How about the metal tube that leads from the EGR valve to the LIM?

This is the information for that code for setting it, and troubleshooting it. It'* all centered around the EGR valve itself.

I liked that as well...

Check your connector wiring to the EGR. It wouldn't be the first time a connected item wasn't making a connection due to bent connector not touching the pins. On the crank.. Odd.. if it recurs in the future, check the harness and consider a crank sensor change.
