Foghorn mentioned before that an occaisional dirty connection for the ground at the block would set this code for him.

I had this code on my GTP. It would throw it occasionally. I never got to the bottom of it before i sold it. I do remember there was a pattern to as to when it would appear but can't remember what it was.

I promptly cleaned under the back seat and put down some baking soda to try to neutralize any residual acid. The ends of my cable are pressed on and really dont have any "boot" to speak of just a plastic cap that goes over where the bolt goes through the terminal into the battery. (or am I confused)

When I replaced the o2 sensor the light did go away for two maybe three days and came back, for the next week it came and went for a couple days at a time and now it is on all the time. I have noticed no pattern other than if the light trips on it'* on start up, most of the time. Also no connection to air temps either( there has occassionaly been frost on my windows in the morning still and getting up to low 70'*) so i have a good spread to check for those signs.

Thanks again

Due to the difference in years..it sounds like your cable is good at the battery end.

How about the engine ground?

I'll see if I can check them at work, if I get some down time. I'll redo the one I cleaned before and I'm going to look for anymore grounds in the engine bay. Does anyone know if there is any other grounds that are vulnerable to the elements. For snow removal round here they spray a solution of mag/chloride and it builds up like concrete on the bottom of your vehicle ( I litterally had to chissel the crap off of my dads brakes to get the calipers out)

OK I cleaned all my connections/grounds that I could find. And archon the pos lead to the fuse bank was indeed loose.Replacing the air filter in a few minutes as well.I was going to do the fuel filter and test the pressure tomorrow but I was informed today that I have to work all through next saturday, so that is on hold till next sunday proly monday. The light is off right now, crossing fingers painfully.

and now a question for some of the gearheads. Does the computer test for lean condition on startup? wondering if I could put it through enough cycles to trip the light back on just by starting it.

Nope that wasn't it, the light came back, lean bank 1. Damn my fingers hurt now.

Is it just Boost and I having this code consistently?

My light has come on mid drive before. My understanding from reading up on it.is any time during the run cycle.

It should not be only boost. There are too many people running the same setup as we both have w/o any issues.

Still waiting on my battery cable. I really want this thing to arrive, because before I changed my battery...I didn't have P0171 haunting each waking out and causing me sleepless nights.

While you were tightening things at the fuse block, did you check the hold down screws also. Some have had some issues with those coming loose too. The only time that I've had that code has been when the Borg/Warner O2 sensors that I tried failed.
