My sss light comes on at times but no abs or traction light comes on...what could be causing this..??

I agree....more often than not it is the steering wheel position sensor....however, a "C" code is usually set.....after installing, a Tech II scanner is needed to relearn the position sensor.....

Yeah when I read up on it..it also said steering wheel position sensor but I was thinking control arm for some reason maybe ball joint cuz I do also hear popping whn I turn..

Mine would trip on typically when I was turning the wheel at slow speeds in a parking lot. It was the hub shifting in some way that causes the speed sensor reading to do something wrong. This was true with both hubs.

I agree, it is likely something specific to the stability control system. There is also a yaw sensor, but those very rarely fail. The steering wheel position sensor is usually to blame.
