Default How do you replace an outside rearview mirror glass??

I just had someone break/crack my outside rearview mirror glass,....the adjustment motor/mechanism works fine but the glass is going to have to be replaced,......does anyone know how to go about doing it??It seems like the glass and rubber/plastic edge around the glass can be pulled or popped off(maybe held onto the mirror mechanism by locking tabs or dogs??).Any info or feedback would be greatly appreciated......

Some auto glass dealers sell a replacement glass that fits the over the broken piece provided it is still there. There are sizes that are pre-cut to match the oem size. They stick on overtop the broken glass and will continue to heat for defrosting in the winter. Had to do this on my '94 thanks to the garage door suddenly getting in my way one day! Should cost you about $15-20 US.
