Default Hard to steer while turning left while braking

I have a 2000 SSEI and it does great until you go to turn left while braking, then it gets hard kinda like the power steering is kicking in and out. As soon as you let off the brake steering goes back to normal. Thanks for any help guys.

Is this at any speed, or just slow speed maneuvers? If just slow speed, it could be your power steering pump starting to go.

Don't know for sure why...It could have something to do with the way the pump and rack interact. However, at that high of speed, it could be more of a rack problem. The pump the problem at low speed is generally around the speed of parking the car.

Default idea

Could be a binding upper strut bearing when a load is put on it or intermediate shaft need lubing.

I had that same problem and it was due to my rack & pinion. I recommend having it checked.

I was also thinking upper strut mount because someone else had told me about that several days ago. Watch it end up being the rack- the only part I didn't keep from the parts car I junked a couple months ago.

If they are anything like the 99 and under you could remove the strut bearing dust boots and shoot some lube in there and it will work down into the bearing.
