Back to the boost ? - I was wondering about that and was going to post a new topic tonite. I read that the boost gauge can fail (or the solenoid, rather) it will work somewhat but not normal. My gauge is at like -10 at idle and if i really tromp on it, I can't get mine to go much past zero. Is that normal? Should I be able to peg it out near redline? Should I insist that it go to the dealer for it sometime?
Any help is appreciated.

Actually Bill...it may berelevant. If the noise he'* hearing is bad enough to hear, it could be manifesting as KR and keeping the timing low enough to not be using boost.

Boost is applied to the MAP sensor based on engine RPM'* and Solenoid position. Not by KR or any other function.
If he'* low on boost, this is a boost issue, not an engine noise issue. Low boost should never give engine noise as a result of the condition.
