I did this a while ago. During the day, no lights when they're in the off position. If you hit the fog lights, you get the fog and corner lights. At dusk, the head lights come on. If you turn on the parking/corner lights, the head lights turn off and just the parking lights are on.

i think i misunderstood. so if i turn my fog lights on at night, the corner and fogs come on, but the headlights turn off?

For me it is an aesthetic thing. I like driving around at dusk, fogs and parking lights on w/o headlights...when you have a fresh coat of wax, the chrome on the wheels gleaming, and your tires blacked out...it'* just a cool, sporty look. As for safety, that is up to the driver being alert to your surroundings and not assuming anything. Again, if you have any doubt, do the mod (it'* incredibly easy and very inexpensive) and wait for that nice twilight time of day. Get out of the car and just go stand in front of it...it'* cool.

At night the light sensor on the dash will turn on the head lights. If you press the fog light button the fog lights will come on and the head lights stay on. The sensor knows when it'* dark.
