You don't have to pull the colunm or drop the sub frame to remove the steering shaft. Jost remove the bolts and it pushes up or down on the rack or colunm.VERY EASY!!! I did 4 of them already

There are 2 bolts on each end of the shaft holding it to the rack and steering column. The are 11mm. once these are out the shaft will slide off.

Very common on the Bonnie'*. My car has 24K on it and it is going in for that on Wed. to get fixed.
