Cheapest strut mount/bearing replacment ever?
Mom'* '05 had a clunking mount, so I had a shop do both sides and an alignment. They're a local shop in a smaller town with a good reputation. They couldn't get the parts locally except for the dealer, so I got them in a slightly larger city (her city is 30k people, mine is about 2.5 million ). They charged $50 labor per side for the mounts/bearings, and $50 for the alignment, for a total of $150 out the door. I bought the mounts at NAPA for $72/each. They're the NCP (Spicer) branded mounts. That'* a total of $294.00. I talked to a bunch of shops in Houston, and the best I got was just over $500 for the whole thing. I'm driving the '00 down to Mom'* shop and getting it done, too, as it needs to be done as well.
EDIT: I know you can do it yourself cheaper, but I'm not playing with strut compressors.

thats the joy of smaller cities...
i live in a town of about 35K, with maybe 12k more in students... i can get an oil change for $40 there
i work in a town of 4k and i can get my oil changed by someone that knows my first and last name by heart, picks up my car from work, changes the oil, and drops it back off at my work for $15
last time he changed it he noticed i had a bubbling tire, so he put a used one on.. FREE!
