Default Changing O2 sensor, noticed Grease

While changing my O2 sensor, I noticed that on the driver'* side below the airbox and towards the driver'* seat (under the hood) that was a noticeable amount of what appeared to be grease of some sort. I could not pin point exactly what it was and where it had come from, but I became a little concerned.

The first pic is a closeup of the area of the grease, the second is a zoomed out view of where I noticed the grease and pic 3 is the grease on my finger.

Anyone have any ideas what this may be, and should I be concerned? If so, I have the comfort of the group here that we can resolve this.

Tom

Jack the car up and check the CV joint boot. Looks like CV grease.

Check the CV boots. When they split they spray grease all over.

I will check the CV boot tomorrow, but not sure exactly where it is, but, while I was under there I did notice a boot that was not in very good shape, I will revert to what I find.

If it is the CV boot, what is the repair like?

Take out the old axle and put in the axle. Guess we need to do a write up on it.
