Hi,

I have trouble with my SSEi, i got it scan 3 weeks ago and the the remaining possibilities
was :

-O2 sensor
-Crankshaft positionning sensor


My symptoms: As soon as i touch the throttle my spark go down, under 10.
so if i go at WOT i got black smoke and no power,

The car do that at 1500 rpm too, seem to work better only at 2000-3000 rpm. (But the scan show low spark, just over 10 ,at this rpm)


Ive changed my O2 sensor 2 week ago, seemed to be better,i still got some "miss" but now it begin again, i cant hold it at WOT. And it miss at low rpm.




Im looking to do the crankshaft positionning sensor and want to know how difficult it is.

Can we just remove all the pulley in the front of the engine and get access under?
Or i need to completly open the engine?



Any input could be greatly appreciated.

This is out of the FSM for Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) replacement.
1. Disconnect neg. battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. (jack it up right side)
3. Remove right inner fender access cover (wheelhouse panel) I would say you have to remove right front wheel for easy access.
4. Remove the crankshaft harmonic balancer. (a gearhead should provide more detail for this. You probably need a gear puller)
5. Remove the CKP sensor shield.
6. Disconnect the sensor electrical connector.
7. Remove the two attaching bolts from the CKP sensor.
8. Remove the CKP sensor from the block face.
Hope this helps some. Gearheads should be rolling in here in a few seconds.
