Default 3rd brake light

Hi guys, my 3rd brake light recently went out on the 2000, I suspected a bulb but when I went to NAPA they told me I have to get an entire unit from GM, is this true? if so anybody know of any repop aftermarket? Thanks, Jim

The center stop light has LED'*. If you are good with a solder iron, you may be able to replace them. You can get LED'* at Radio Shack, etc.

Otherwise there was someone parting out a 2000+ in the for sale area. I think the front was smashed up, but the back end is OK.

Yah i would suggest getting a new one or a working used one, it is impossible to pull the assembly apart without breaking it to pieces, I tried it
