Default Bad Day: 3rd Brake Light Out

Lets see how many things can go wrong today?
(1st item)

Anyone know what type of blub is used for the high vis brake light?
Also, how does one get in to replace it? (it was easier on the spolier)

This is for my 97.....
Thanks

You'll need to get into the trunk. Reach under the package shelf and it should twist out like a taillight bulb. I think it is the same bulb as backup lights. There is just one bulb.

Bulbs are in Techinfo. The description for access is correct. Use fingernail polish remover to get the black tar sealant off your fingers when you're done. Make sure you use the correct lamp. An RV 12v bulb, for example, will fit, but will still trip the lamp monitor, regardless of the fact that it lights up.

I just replaced mine a couple of weeks ago. While it is supposed to, it doesn't "just" twist out. It'* a fight. That tar stuff Will mentioned? It likes the bulb socket. A LOT!! It won't wnat to let go. If you got big fingers like I do, prepare for a battle! Took me almost ten minutes and almost every cuss word I know to get that sucker loose.

I would not recommend using any tools, though, it'* just kind sticky up in there. Perserverance, patience, and a "good" vocabulary will take care of it.

This time of year, it may help to pre-warm the goo. That, of course, will make it gooeyer (is that a word?) but easier to remove.

How could you forget? That'* the nastiest crap on the car, even when compared to the spoiler nut sealant/clay/playdoh crap!

It was a long time ago, in a land far away...

I have no experience with the spoiler stuff.
