okay i have cleaned the iac and the maf and still the same thing . when it starts to sputter and act up with the maf plugged in i can either uplug the maf or the iac and it wil stop sputtering any ideas??

If it'* sputtering with the MAF plugged in but not with it unplugged, that'* a sure sign the MAF is faulty. Unplugged the cars computer switches to hard coded tables instead of using live data from the MAF.

Like mentioned, try tapping the MAF while it'* acting up. It works.... I did that when I had problems with mine, no SES light. Stalled right out every time I tapped on it.

hi all is it ok to post again on an old post? i have a follow up but the problem still not fixed yet. we found a leak at the upper intake gasket and we have replaced it but to only get another code. the code im getting now it a p0171 code for bank 1 too lean. the idles stills goes up and down a few hundred rpm after the car is up to operating temp. i have checked all vaccum lines everything looks goood and im not getting a maf code any longer any ideas on this one? thanks alot guys i have to get this thing emmisioned asap thanks again

i was reading around the forum about a hvac leak could that cause it? i can hear a slight purging air sound under the dash with the heat on. if this could be the problem is there vaccum lines that go into the inside somewhere? thanks, if so does someone have any pictures thanks again

There is a vacuum line that goes in to the firewall on the passenger side. It goes to the controls for the climate control. That should be behind your glove box.

your not alone, my car has the same symptoms and i cannot figure out why it wont stay running, very rough idle and itll rev up and down, this may sound dumb but i have found that turning my traction control off keeps it from killing... does this sound weird or what
