That sounds like something to do with the VATs system. Did you or the previous owner bypass it? If your car still starts then it'* either working or bypassed. That one shouldn't cause the issues you are having. Did you check your battery cables and/or ground busses for corrosion yet?

Take a look at this thread for information on the ground buss.https://www.gmforum.com/showthread.php?t=278980

VATS is the anti theft system build into your car that disables the fuel pump.

and i have been babyin it these last couple days but it still has like a point towards the end of a shift(high rpm) that it will surge,or miss,or cut out.feels like fuel 4 some reason. only thing i lack to replace is sending unit or injectors. how do you know what injector is at fault? im gonna go stomp it and get the ses light to come on then pull that code real quick.

Is it more of a sputter ? kinda sounds like a ignition problem mine was doing that at high RPMs was bad plug wires or maybe you have a bad coil and is there anyway you can check fuel pressure? maybe thats low and if you think you have a problem with the VATS try a different key yours has the chip on it rite?

If the car is running, I wouldn't worry too much about code 58. I know the '92 liked to throw a code, but I don't remember which one it was, but it was a known issue, and no problem, I think that one is it though. I would wait until it does it again and the SES light comes on, that will give you an idea.
