Starting fluid makes for excellent cleaner since it'* virtually pure alcohol... And it'* cheaper than most any other cleaner you'd find.

Not sure if you found the by-pass elbow yet, but you can get a new GM one for under $7.00 at the dealer. They keep them stocked since it'* such a popular replacement part.

Nate..that'* the intake upside down.

That looks pretty ugly. Instead of starter fluid I'd use brake clean. It disolves nearly everything and it should work good.

Okay, I've started cleaning and figured I might as well clean the tb as well. How do I get the maf off with breaking it? I'm going to try to do as much as I can while everything is out.

Hey Bill, can I spray brake cleaner to clean the engine before putting the lower back in?

The cleaner might evaporate but you don't want to do that. YOu might loosen something up or clog a return hole and that would be bad. Wipe with a rag and maybe shop vac anything loose out.
