Does the stick come back after the turn? Or does it stay up/down?

Something may have broken in the return mechanism causing it not to turn off automatically. If that is the case..fixing would involve digging into the steering wheel column.

The right one works fine but the left turn signal does not return to cut itself off after the turn. If I push the handle down it cuts off...just doesn't cut off by itself. You never know how many left turns you make until something like this happens.

I just replaced the wiper switch on mine, and wish it will never again, break! EVER!!!

Has someone had the steering wheel off...... Done an Airbag, or an
Airbag coil replacement, or a fix to the wiring, or horn in the wheel ?
or replace the multifunction lever switches, or Hi Beamswitch,
Ignition, or wiper switch??

This part,

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...signal_cam.jpg

is under the wheel, amidst a slew of clips, snap rings, the airbag coil, discs,
and a spring and makes the signal lights, switch on and off when you initiate
the turn signal lever.

What rides on the steering wheel shaft is a plastic or Nylon circular disk, ( the cancelling cam)

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...isk2cancel.jpg

with a part that is to one side of center which will hit/rub up against the part in 1st photo,
to make it return to neutral position, turning off the signal lights, and returning the lever to neutral position. It also acts as the horn electrical contact ring, & wire receptacle,
via a brass contact ring on the underside.

It may be installed in the wrong position. and affecting only the right directional.

You'll need: The Manual, a wheel puller, disc compressor, Torx drivers, small screwdriver, to remove retaining clip, and a pair of snap ring pliers to get off the snap ring.
It'* not a preffered job... and it can be a pain, to get back together right.

And you have to disable the airbag, and be very careful with it.
Follow the SAFETY handling procedures.
It can go off, with static electricity.. or mishandling.
If it does, it will hurt you!

Hope that helps.

Here in Ames, O'Reilly auto parts will rent (for free) a steering wheel puller kit that makes the job much easier. If you don't have a book on how to properly disable the airbags - get one and follow it carefully. A Chilton'* 28200 will work. Just take your time and be careful, you'll be OK.
