Default Tranny rebuild prices

Recently my car decided to stop going into 3rd gear and fully into 2nd. I figured clutches are done, or the valve body is either really dirt, or just finished.

Well, my car is currently having the transmission rebuilt. The guy thats doing it is completely rebuilding it, with a new torque converter and 2 year warranty.

He said the total cost will be no more than $1600 CAD

Is this a good deal or am i being ripped? Im asking this because i have never had to get this done before.

Oh my car is a 95 SSEi with the 4T60-E
