too much oil...
i recently changed my oil (just got the car) on my 98 ssei, and well it looks like i put too much in, its about 1/2 to 1 inch over the fill line...is this bad?? and what is the best way to drop the level w/o losing too much oil from the car.....i think this is a repost, but i searched for like 1/2 hour, and just gave up...sorry :?
You can see the fill line? How many bottles did you put in? Each bottle equals 1 Quart. That could be bad if you put in too much, you can drain it the sameway you change the oil.

I dont think he meant he can see the fill line in the valve cover hole but rather on the dipstick. If you put more than 5 quarts then I would drain some but if its just 5 quarts exact, then I wouldnt worry about it.
yeah, i dont mean that i can see it in the valve cover, i mean that the dipstick reads about 1/2 to 1 inch if that over the full line....thats all....but is that still bad?

I guess its bad but I think my car has a little more than 5 quarts in it right now and its been running the same, well at least until the transmission went out but thats another story. I think you'll be alright just dont go running any cross country marathons with no breaks.
