There is a spring loaded button switch in the door frame that gets depressed when the door closes. Perhaps that switch is stuck in the closed position and not releasing when you open the door.

Just a theory.

Have the same issue on mine - checked all the door switches, and they are fine. Any other ideas?

I would check your ground bus.... https://www.gmforum.com/t278980/ Then we can move on from there with switch testing and chasing down wires.

Doesn't the base cluster not show door ajar? I've had 5 SE'* with the standard cluster and none of them showed when a door was open.(but did show "check gages")
