Default Systems Monitor indicators

I have the below "systems monitor" on my instrument cluster. I think the "washer fluid" light works, but I never seem to get any of the other indicators, like "check doors." Does anyone know why, and what I can do to fix it?

Thanks.

this is from my '89 shop manual for the SE model bonneville.

Troubleshooting Hints

1) check fuse 11 by operating the horn
2)if the speedometer operates, fuse 10 is good
3) if a single bulb is not lighting check the bulb and wiring
4) if a group of bulbs is not lighting, check the wires common to these bulbs (see schematic)

System check table

turn the ignition switch to RUN with all doors closed [ normal result is] - idicators A through J light for 2 seconds:
A) coolant temperature
B) right rear door ajar
C) right front door ajar
D) left rear door ajar
E) left front door ajar
F) luggage compartment ajar
G) headlight outage
H) low washer fluid
I) tail light outage
J) hood ajar
K) charge indicator stays lit
L) low oil pressure indicator stays lit
M) fasten safety belts indicator lights for 60 to 90 seconds
N) audible warning sounds once if no system failure exists

open all doors and luggage compartmen [normal result is] - DIC display indicators show all 5 doors ajar

I don't believe the 99 SE has the option for the door check function.

Thank you very much !!
I'll give it a whirl, but I think Will is probably right - the other indicators are probably just not included on this model - especially since there is another systems monitor option with the lamp monitor and more bells and whistles - digital odometers, etc.

I think what you're talking about is the SSE DIC, not the SE, when you talk about the digital odometers, when really its just a service reminder function.

I'm sure many things change in ten years. But the basics are the same in testing it, and hopefully fixing whatever problems you are having.

I'm not sure what the 92-99 SE model indicates there. Need input from those owners.

For '93, the non-SSE/SSEi version calls it a "Systems Monitor" as at the top of this thread (and it looks like that'* where BluBonne got the illustration from), although there are two variants shown in the book: a base version with all-red warnings that appears to be for base models only, and a red/amber version (similar to the one that BluBonne posted) with a Check Gages warning for gauge-equipped, non-SSE/SSEi models. (Actually I _think_ it says Check Gages where BluBonne'* says Check Doors; it'* a little hard to read on-screen.)

For the SSE/SSEi warbirds, those get the fluorescent-screen display, which the manual calls the Driver Information Center rather than a Systems Monitor.

my '89 service manual calls it the SE Driver Information Center [DIC] and the SSE Driver information Center [DIC].

Well, it does say "check doors" in the owner'* manual, where the picture came from.
I've seen the washer fluid message, and the parking brake message, and the check gages message (for low fuel.) I'm not sure if the check oil level message is there or not, and I've never seen the doors message.

I think there must just be different trim levels, so even if you have the car diagram on the cluster, you do not necessarily get all the lights...I wonder. I'm going to check it out when I can get to it.

Yes, the ones I was looking at were out of the '93 manual rather than the '89, and some changes had been made in the years in between (most likely for '92 when the whole car got redesigned...)
