Survey - Major Safety Problem 92-95 Bonnie Owners
 

I'm relatively new to this forum but it looks like the place for Bonne-lovers to hang.

The last 5 92+ Bonne owners I've spoken with have indicated that they experience a stall engine condition only during a sweeping left turns, such as at an on-ramp or reasonably sharp, but long curves, typically over 20 mph. I think it is due to fuel cut-off. A bad pickup in the tank? I am very surprised. I thought I was the only one in town to have this problem. I've had it since my 92 was new (well it did get a new fuel pump at 50 miles!).

How many others have had this problem. I think it is a MAJOR safety problem that MUST be addressed. I've learned to live with mine, but a new driver could have a real problem.

Neither of the 2 93's here in town have it. I've never even HEARD of this before!

Never had a problem with fuel delivery before. Maybe its just your town?

No problem here. Maybe it is a '92 problem?

Deathrat has a 92, and Turtle has a 92 chassis with a Series 2 motor, but the fuel delivery should be stock.....either having probs?

my 92 does that...but i havent driven it since i got my new engine in. its mainly on off ramps and on ramps its like it floods its self or something. you have to either not accelerate on the corner or you have to jsut wait a couple seconds for it to kick in again once it cuts out

ummmmmmmm no problems with fuel here............ atany speed or how fast i slide :lol: ...i mean enter a corner :twisted:

I think this problem was only on the '92, and only when the gas tank is 1/4 full or less.
This happens on my '92 SSE s/c but not on my '93 SSEi. I've learned to be careful and drive slowly around right turns when the tank on the '92 is less than 1/2 full. I personally think this should have been recalled and fixed by GM. As far as I know, the only way to fix it is to replace the strainer sock assembly in the fuel tank, and it's part of the whole fuel pump unit.

And the fuel gage sometimes reads empty on the '92 but not on the '93. I installed the 2000 Ohm resistor on the '92, as per the TSB, but it didn't fix that problem.

I forgot to mention.............stalling only occurs when tank shows less than 1/2 tank. Over 1/2 tank = no probs.
