Sorry to bring this topic back to life after so long, but I'm going to order my rack tomorrow and I need some clairification.

I was just checking on www.gmpartsdirect.com and www.ACDelco.com websites and I'm getting confused.

Delco'* website say'* my car came with the FE1 rack is this right ?
They are listing SSE i =
STEERING / RACK & PINION COMPLETE UNIT
36-15294 GEAR,STRG (REMAN)(RACK & PINION-POWER COMPLETE) ALL MAKES
With RPO SOFT RIDE SUSP (FE1)

If I search with the GM part number that you guys listed for the FE2 rack (which you guys say is better) Delco'* site says that this is for the SE & SSE.

AC Delco'* site says that GM P/N - 26044823 = AC Delco P/N - 36-16230
This is listed for the following;

1993 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE SSE V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI * Engine VIN = 1
1992 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE SE V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI N Engine VIN = L
1992 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE SSE V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI * Engine VIN = 1
1991 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE SE V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI N Engine VIN = C

If I search for my car (Instead of using the cross referance look up) it gives me
AC Delco P/N - 36-15294 = FE1
This is listed for the following;

1992 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE SE V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI N Engine VIN = L
1992 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE SSE V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI * Engine VIN = 1
1992 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE SSEI V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI * Engine VIN = 1

Which rack is better the FE2 or FE1 ?
Is this a mistake on Delco'* site (which rack belongs with which model) ?

What info do I go with, cause I'm paying to have this done.

I'm confused can someone please clairify

Thanks,
Dutch

Just thought I would post an update for anyone in the future that does this repair.

There is a mistake on AC Delco'* Website.

This is the correct info:

FE2 =
AC Delco Part # 36-16230
GM'* Part # 88990985

FE1 =
AC Delco Part # 36-15294
GM'* Part # ?

The rack ended up costing me $182.40 (Tax in & after the return of the Core) + $200.00 Cash price for install.

Also in Canada a brand new rack is no longer available only a remanufactured, which the part numbers above are for.

Thanks for all the help,
Dutch
