The security light should go out when you start the car.

Definitely sounds like a VATS problem.

Yes I know the light will go out after starting the car but what happens if you just put the key to run (not start, ie turn over). Does it come on for a few seconds then go off?

Thanks. Mine stays on. My buddy is bringing in a selection of resistors tomorrow and I will match it up exactly so that I can rule that out once and for all. If not I may be pulling my dash out.

It'* the resistor. count on it.

I installed 2 resistors to within a few ohms of the key and installed. Runs like a charm. The security light is remaining on but it was that way before though. Oh well it runs and thats what counts. Thanks for all the input.

I am writing to thank you for this post here. Its was very helpful in getting my car up and running again. To recap everything, the starter would not engage, security light was flashing nonstop. I traced the lack of power to the neural safety switch then back to the start enable relay. (I read over this post) and I found the orange covered pair of white wires, cut them and spliced in a resistor of identical ohms of the ignition KEY and bob'* your uncle the car started.
