Default Some problems with the bonne

hey guys, i have a 93 bonneville SSE, and lately i have experiencing some problems.

1. a couple days ago i have noticed a ticking noise coming from the left front tire, and also have vibration in the gear shift. it only happens when the car is in drive or reverse.

2. my second problem is, when i drive down the highway going about 110km/h for about half hour the check engine light comes on, and the car starts to hesitate. so i slow down and feather the throttle and the engine light goes off and i can get back up to speed.

any suggestions will help, im new to these cars and figured this was the best place to ask these questions.

Jack the car up and check for wobble or side to side pay of the tire. Also with the car up, spin the tire and listen for the noise. You may have a front wheel hub that needs to be replaced. This is pretty common and not hard to replace yourself.

The vibrations you feel in the gear shift can be any number of things, including the wheel hub. Transmission mount, engine mount are two areas to look at while you have your car jacked up.

With the engine hesitation, SES; when was the last time the fuel filter was replaced. It almost sounds like you are starving the motor for fuel, and a clogged filter can keep the fuel flow from the pump to the motor less than the motor demands.

I can't really add to much to what Purple already said; but the clicking noise could also be a bad CV shaft joint.

thanks for the fast reply guys. if i get time today im going to get it up in the air and check that out, and i was told it could possibly be CV joint. also could the hesitation be from the fuel pump, cause i know they mess up on these alot.

If the SES light came on, you need to check for error codes. You don't need a scan tool to do that; it only takes a few minutes and you can use a paperclip, as noted in instructions elsewhere on this forum.

i got my uncle to scan it and it came up with 4 different codes. but the clicking noise is coming from the transmission. which is why the gear shift is vibrating. and i will prolly put one in myself since my dad has one sitting around in an old transport. thanks for info guys
