slow start with eletrical problems
every time i go to start my 1996 bonne. it will try to roll over a couple of time before it actually does. after that on my battery gauge it will say the battery is low and the car will die in 5 sec unless i give it a little gas until the gauge goes up. the battery is not the problem. can some on inform me the possible problems.
How do you know the battery is not the problem? I would have the alternator checked. Also something simple to do in the mean time is take the battery terminals off and clean them with a stiff brush and some terminal cleaner. You will need an 8 mm wrench to get the terminals off. Reassemble and see if there is a difference.
Also, if you found a lot of rust or corrosion, you may want to put dielectric grease on any exposed metal connectors after you clean them up. You can get a little packet of battery terminal protector at Advance for a dollar and change.
If you don't have a wire brush, I've used sandpaper. Just make it smooth.
