No, they won't.
Besides, it'll trip your lamp monitor due to the wrong resistance/current draw, and will light poorly. Your tails are designed to reflect light that was travelling BACK and to the SIDES back toward the rear. LED'* do not provide light in those directions.

What Wren was trying to say is that normal fillament-type bulbs radiate light in almost every direction, and the reflectors do their part in focusing that light. LEDs have their light already focused, and is usually pretty linear. So no matter how bright the LED is, it won't be seen nearly as well as a normal bulb would be, given the LED bulb is placed in a housing meant for a fillament bulb.
Even then, he is right about the DIC issue too. LEDs draw far less current than a normal bulb, and can only draw it in one direction. The DIC will always think that LED "bulb" will be blown, even though it isn't.
