pulling codes from 95 bonnie , code reader error????

pulling codes from 95 bonnie , code reader error????
When I plug an OBDII scantool into the test terminal it just flashes 8888 The bbok says it could not be the correct tool for the vehicle or the pcm is not functioning? Help!!!!
