BTW, we don't have Advanced Auto out West, but I recall hearing my Admin-bud jr's3800 saying he got his there. He'* not too far from the Cape.
ok cool... i'll give them a call and definitely post what i come up with.
so you think the temp prob could possibly be related huh? wouldn't that be nice? lol ... my next best guess is a thermostat, because when i'm sitting in traffic, the temp is steady climbing to darn near red, but as soon as I get going again and air is blowing into the radiator, it drops back down.

and you have been an awesome help dude, thanks A LOT!

Any time. That'* what we're all here for.

Keep in mind that belt also runs your water pump. Think about it.

And I strongly suggest a 180 degree thermostat with four 1/16" holes drilled in the rim, just inside the rubber seal. Also do the high speed fan override.

haha... good point! noted
i'll pick up the 180 degree thermostat.. i'm assuming these come with the holes already there haha ... i am far too mentally challenged to go drilling holes in a thermostat

what is this "high speed fan override" that you speak of?
i searched the forum and didn't find much, and checked techinfo with no result

Smaller than these holes. It'* easy. But if you don't want to, get with another member to help, or at least do the 180. Especially in FL.

Fan override, you simply ground the high speed fan relay through a switch. I did my 93 some time ago, and just did my 95, driverjohn'* 92, and matt'* 93 a couple weeks ago.

Override:

Don't do the low speed. Just the high speed.

ah that'* cool... so you just drilled the holes yourself then? I will probably opt for the 180 thermostat, but probably not drill. i live in an apt, so my tool access is limited. and as for the switch, i read your posting. very nice work! ... i'm hoping i don't need to hook up a switch to my fan though (i'm assuming that the high speed fan is the smaller one on the passenger side of the radiator, i saw my cut on with the air), hopefully the thermostat and idler will do it.

Update:

Took it to the shop this morning. Just too much going on to mess with right now. He hooked up a mechanic'* stethoscope to his head and poked around (let me try it too) and there was a bit of noise coming from the tension pulley up top, but the most noise was coming from the lower idler pulley down below. So that'* could, I could have replaced the wrong part.
He'* also going to scan it for errors, charge the A/C, and I think I have a messed up wheel speed sensor. The ABS light came on yesterday and went off again next time I started it, and the Traction Control is having issues too... So we'll see. Got a slight vibration to check out too... A regular shopping list here. lol

Okay, I'll keep this thread updated. Should have her back Tuesday.

Thanks everyone, especially willwren! You've been an amazing help!

Geez, came straight to the second page to see an update on the HUD, and I'm reading about harmonic balancers. Maybe you could rename this to "Problems with my new 92 SSEi" or something.

Glad you got some of this stuff fixed, though.

haha... sorry man

still having trouble with the hud.. i've switched it off for now. had to take care of the more important stuff first.

the mechanic said that he thinks my car'* been through a flood, and with as much electronics as these cars have that'* gonna be a nightmare. so i have to see how things play out over the next short while. if they calm down then i'll fix the little stuff. i have no idea what'* goin' on with the hud, the compass is completely backwards, it'* just weird. .. i'm starting to think my computer is messed. :?
