Default Passenger side rear wheel wobbles - help

What could cause the passenger side rear wheel to wobble? Yes the lugnuts were tight - my first check. I have a vibration driving on the interstate, so I thought I would check all the wheels at home. Jacked up the passenger side and I can wobble the rear wheel - pretty noticeable. All other wheels have no wobble in them. I removed the wheel and the brake drum. I could then wobble the piece that the studs are connected to? What could be the issue? I am lost and would like to fix this before the wheel possibly falls off driving down the road!!! Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks Bryan

It is an easy fix or not. I am fairly mechanically inclined and not afraid to try stuff myself. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like your rear wheel hub is failing.

If you have a vibration (like between 55-70mph) on the Interstate, I would start with having the tires checked for bubbles or uneven wear. If your tire looks good I would then take it to get balanced at a tire shop. Sometimes the little weights that are used to balance tires fall off causing your tire to shake or vibrate. If it wobbles at low speeds than I would pursue the bad wheel hub.

Is it a top-bottom, left-right, or all the above wobble when you try it by hand?
