Default Broke Motor Mount!! READ

I just found that my motor mount is broke. On the drivers side in front the one close to the head light. The motor twist up in drive! Any way is this normal the car only has 57000 miles on it. It a 1992 SE, it was used to deliver the mail for about 15000 miles lot of stop and go! The shop wants around 140.00 to fix I dont know why it looks very easy to get to. Any I took a chain wraped around it took a stainless bolt lock nut. And went around the cross member where the broke off bottem pat of the mount is. Tighten the bolt tightens the chain. The motor does not lift now!!!! Will this work for a while? Hell the chain looks stronger than the mount!

That same mount just crapped on on my 92 SSE with 180K miles. Weird sound on acceleration huh? The Chain- sure that will probably work just fine as long as she holds the engine down on the rubber insulator.

These mounts are VERY easy to replace.

Loosten about 3 bolts (can't remember exactly), place flat block of wood under oil pan, and use that as a careful jacking point. The engine should lift just enough for you to slip out the old mount and bolt in the new one. You should not have engine clearance problems while jacking.

My new mount was around $20 for a lifetime guarantee; not like I'd use that guarantee again.
