Strip the old engine for every good part you can find and sell them.

I'm going to keep the current engine. Its got too many new parts to ditch or sell. I think id rather have spare parts.

You don't need to spare parts, send them to me, I'll get rid of them for you.

Sounds like the rod journal might have 'exploded'. That would leave the piston rod to run loosey goosey and punch holes all over the place. Keep us informed on how the engine hunts goes and you can get lost of advice here when you find one.

Will do man. I'm sure I will know more about why once we get this motor out of the car. Hopefully I can get a decent motor. Used here I can get one for 200$ compression tested, but you never know mileage or anything for sure. A new 3800 is like 3000$

What other year Bonneville motor will fit my car? Lets say i was given a say 92-94 Bonneville, and wanted to swap motors. I know my 95 has a "special alternator" that only fits on 95s. Will these motors differ so much that i wont be able to use parts between the two? Sorry I don't know the exact year.
