yep, it's easer to do if you take out the passenger seat. 4 bolts and some small trim pieces, disconnect the harness and pull the seat out. this way you can lay on your back and work a bit easier down there.


But the number one thing you need to do first is make sure you disconnect the battery, pull the airbag fuse wait about ten minutes and than disconnect the airbag from the harness under the dash when your over there. This way you wont risk blowing off the system when your under there, or damage the airbag.

Heres a question for ya. Now that I finally pulled out my actuator I have a question about the one I ordered. I currently have a 16141822 Actuator, but I ordered the 16124942. I found in a post that the 16124942 has more electronics inside, but with only one extra pin on 7. The harness is still the same tho. Would the 16124942 still work on this do you think?

I would call rockauto and run the part number you bought with your cars info. they should be able to give you a definite answer.

The same exact thing happened with me yesterday. I'll try that actuator temporary rod fix. Any other suggestions.

well what is your car doing or not doing? assuming you don't have control over your hot and cold temps. stuck one way full cold or full hot?

depending on your resources we can get you going again. do you want results with a quick fix to get you through the winter or do you want it done right, right away?

Thanks. There was a post on Dec 11th by STWATER and I have the exact same problem. I would like both solutions a quick fix for now and I'll fix it permanently when the weather is warmer. I have had this problem for two years now, heat all summer long :)

Actually no it changed to cold air on wednesday.

oh,than yes pull out your glove box linner ...like 4 screws...unclip the light...

i still need to find a pic of the whole we are talking about that will let you see the top of the actuator to pop up the rod.
its on the left side once you have taken out the liner. shine a light over there you should see what i'm describing.

It's funny though I spoke with a GM ac tech and he is convinced that it's the sensor that sits in front of the rad that detects the temp outside that is causing the problem.
