Leaking upper intake AGAIN

My days are numbered with the upper that I have on the car. I let it warm up this morning
and after about 15 minutes I popped the hood and looked where the puddle is and I could
see a nice stream of coolant flowing down the lower intake from the upper.
I'll have to fix this fairly quickly. I'm concerned what it'* doing inside that I CAN'T see. I
am going to buy a Dorman upper. Enough of this Delphi crap. LOL. I'll post pics of it
once I have it off so everyone can see what 25,000 mile Delphi upper intake looks like!

at least the upper is relatively easy to do. Just the frustration of it all.
Yah I'm interested in the series III swap also.
I used the OEM gasket on the upper and the felpro on the lower.
All I could get on Ebay.
got about 4k miles since it was done. Wonder how long the plastic upper is good for.

Did you use the GM cooling system suppliment (sealant tabs)? If you didn't, 4 or those in the radiator should seal it up. If nothing else it will buy you time til it is convenient.

Hate to sound like a broken record but why not plug the two coolant holes in the lower intake and be done with it.
All you need is:
2 - 1/8” aluminum pipe plugs. Earls # 3202
1 – 1/8” pipe tap
JB Weld or your favorite high temp sealer.

I did not use the coolant tabs. I'm not a big fan of the "mechanic in a bottle" fixes. The coolant tabs always made me think they fit that category.
I'm going to order a new Dorman upper intake and gasket set. Advance has it for $144. The best part is that it has a lifetime warranty. Since I have to get this done sooner before later I don't really have the time to research and make a SIII upper work on my SII. But in the future I would still like to make the conversion!

I tend to agree with the "mechanics in a bottle" theory but the sealant tabs are specified by GM and required per the service manual. They are actually preventative in nature but work quite well.
