Default Keyless entry FOB problem

I read the threads, and identified that I do have the correct codes number for my '99 to have keyless entry. I ordered a fob on ebay with free programming.(Car was bought with no FOB) Seems simple enough, connect (jump) the 4 and 8 pin together on the OBDII port, press some buttons and go! When I look at the port, I can't find metel pins in what I believe is the 4 and 8 port? Even if I was interpeting the 4 & 8 unside down there wouldn't be a metal clip in one or the other. Am I kidding myself to think they run in order? would anyone have a diagram or could tell me why I'm missing pins? thanks in advance.

I just bought one and mine programmed fine. I used a piece of wire to jump the two. You have to turn the key forward (not start) then the locks should pop and in a few more seconds they should pop again. At this point you hold down the lock and unlock buttons at the same time and that should do it.

Please give us the FCC ID off the FOB that wouldn't program so we can see if you got the right one.

AHH, the instuctions I received DID NOT have correct order the sequence of when to turn the key on!! It made it sound like the doors would lock and unlock with only the jumper in place. Followed your instuctions and wha-la. It works...GM dealer quoted $45 to do this...And the've qouted me $900 for the UIM and LIM replacement WHAT A JOKE! Thanks for the time.
