Yeah, I wouldn't bother with fixing it, but I know with both of my sisters Berettas that she totaled, the buy back price was 10% of the value of the car. I'm sure it varies for each insurance company, but thats how my insurance works anyways.

sometimes you may just get lucky. when i totalled my 1990 cavalier the insurrance company paid me 3000 for it (in 2001 mind you, i know, i couldn't believe it either) and they just let me keep it, i was shocked and surprised as hell

Keep in mind that if you do buy the car from the insurance company once it'* been totalled it will have a Salvage title. Won't be clear anymore. Not that it would matter much to you, but when you go to sell the car, you won't get as much for it compared to a car that carries a Clear title.

Well, the first offer was $5,001 including premiums/sales tax/etc.
I sent in printouts from keep it local dot com and cars dot com and they came back with $5,800.
I owe $1650 yet and have a $500 deductible leaving me with $3600.
OR
buy the car back for $1000 and have $2600 to fix it (and have to come up w/ a bunch to finish it) and have a salvage title.
I'm leaning toward the first option.

Depends on the age of the car......And some states....In MN if the car is over 6 yrs old it won't carry one.....The INS Co. will total if the cost of repairs is more than 80% of the cars value.

ditch it. better to have money in the end rather than having to pay more to fix.
