I had code 58, like I figured I would. Cleared it and the car still started. I don't know where else to go, so I'll dig through my FSM for a while.

John, disconnect the trunk tamper connector in the trunk lid and see if the light goes away.

The light did go away a couple minutes after it turned on.

Trunk tamper? Didn't know that existed.

I had a security light on the 93 a few years ago. I disconnected it. There'* a tamper tab on the trunk lock cylinder to trip the alarm if someone slide-hammers the lock.

Follow the mechanical cable up from the lock cylinder (remove carpet in the lid) to the electrical (one wire) connector. Disconnect it. See if the light stays away.

It solved my problem, and a few others since.

i sorta had the same problem in my SE, the light came on randomly one day while i was driving, and i did try jiggling the key and messing with the power locks..no problems had ever cropped up, it was just the light on the dashboard was there to bother me. would the same thing that you said to do for his 92 work the same on my 96 SE? just thought i'd throw it out there
