Brown and black should be normal...black being all the carbon that the oil is trapping. "By the right front tire" tells me passenger wheel, right? Front main oil seal, timing cover, oil pressure sending unit, filter, and adapter housing is there.

How is your oil pressure gauge reacting?

Very well could. Main seal could have been pinched, timing cover may not have all the bolts in it or bolts are loose, causing the seal to not be quite right.

Also check your PCV valve.

Sounds like you just need to replace your oil pan gasket.

Make sure that is the problem before you go out and fix something that dosn't need it.

I think the gasket itself may be 15 and change. Add new oil and filter and you are looking at about 35 bux.

Or maybe your pan bolts are loose. That has been known to happen too.

Front tire, isn't the oil filter in that area? Check and make sure the filter is tight - did you have an oil change right before you noticed the leaking?
