Default Grounding A/F sensor?

After putting in a new O2 sensor a couple weeks ago, I noticed my A/F gauge was still reading rich (I normally have it stashed away until I get my pillar pod in). The last two days, it'* just been on full rich all the time. So I yanked the signal wire last night, and the reading didn't change. I'm thinking it was grounding out and affecting my O2 signal. I got on it a couple times on the way to work today and I didn't see my characteristic light smoke puff in the mirror.

John, take the gound wire on the gague and use the ground that is on the Parking brake mounting plate, that is what i used for both my A/F and my Trans Temp and they work perfect

Thank you Captain Obvious. I'm very well aware of that fact. But Kyle is very familiar with the gauges from Autometer, and ran that same gauge for quite some time. Perhaps his INSIGHT might prove valuable during the time that John is doing some further troubleshooting.
