Ok I know about the post on the misread fuel at fillup. I am attempting to work this fix with my handy 2.2k ohms resistor but low and behold I lift the lower rear seat and spread the wiring conduit and find not 1 set of purple and Black/white wires but 2 sets of them. So first off reading the fix, it says left side to which i assume is the driver side. (well depending on who wrote it there are 2 lefts to every view).
Anyways, I'm on the driver side looking in at this harness and wondering "Which set of wires do i attach the resistor to?" I don't have a book to find the harness in. This is a 1993 SSE if this helps. any ideas???

Here'* a clip from the instructions in the techinfo post:
"The correct purple and black/white wires are in the wiring bundle that has the clear level ride line (ELC) in it."
Good Luck...it didn't fix the problem on my '92 - mine still reads empty when full sometimes.

Not sure what the clear level ride line is ECL... you mean the Air line for the suspension? I'm still confused because there is 2 sets for wires with plain purple and 2 sets that are black with a white stripe..*frustrated*
It was clear to me when I did it, but I'm away from my car right now.
If I remember correctly, there were 2 bundles of wires, and only 1 bundle had a clear vinyl tube(*) in it.

here is a pic of the harness if this helps... not sure if this will work. take note that there is 2 sets of purple with white stripes and 2 sets of purple. the conduit was factory sealed so it should look like this i assume.

Well, since I seem to be the only one with this problem, here is what i did. I cut 1 set of purple wires and the guage went to full, applied a 2.2k 1/2 watt resistor between it and a black with white wire. it worked, i'm happy...
Mine had 2 bundles within the wire loom, so there was no confusion about which set to use.
If your fuel gage always read empty after filling the tank, then maybe you got the right wires and it'll work for yours. But if yours is like mine, it only reads empty when full sometimes - when I added the resistor to mine I thought it was fixed too...until it read empty again a week or 2 later when I filled the tank again.
