My failed intake cost me a lot of money, time, and hair!! I'm spreading the word about two sites I found today. One is to sign a petition for GM to make right by us (My signature was #8,107), and the other is a law firm that is contemplating a class action law suit against GM over these failing gaskets. Please spread the word to all it might apply.

no offense, but i've never (really) seen an online petition work.
as for the class action law suite, have you considered calling up pontiac first, and explaining your frustration, and finances required with replacing the upper intake manifold? if 100 people did that, it would be a heck of a lot more effective than an online petition, and you could at the very least say when you try to do a class action lawsuit that you tried to have them help financially fix the problem.

food for thought...

If there are other guys out there who've changed their upper plenums and don't know how to identify if it'* a Delphi or Rochester.. how can we vote?
Mine is off a 95 SLE, and it has raised, encircled "GM" and "AC" lettering on top of the TB housing area.
At any rate, I put a Dorman plenum on & so far so good.

For your statistics,, and -just to add in my experiences: Both the '99 Bonneville, and the '98 LaSabre that I have done were Delphi parts. -the '99 was TOTALLY wasted, and the '98 was not damaged much at all. -just some melted plastic on the EGR tube. (LIM gaskets SHOT on both of them.) -between 80 and 90 thousand miles on both.

Both got KenCo repair kits. (actually, the '99 also got the Korean replacement UIM as well as the KenCo sleeve.)

I replaced the upper, lower, and throttle body gaskets on the intake manifold on my '95 SLE with 127,000 miles as preventive maintenance. I had a machinist turn a reduced diameter stove pipe and sleeve which I used in the LIM and plenum. My plenum was showing heat damage, and the throttle body flange was warped.

I think mine might be a Rochester, but I am not sure. Without a tag, can you tell?

Thanks, Don. The unit is still on the car. I sleeved the EGR hole and RTV'd the TB sealing surface warp. It must be a Rochester 'cuz the mfg date is 5/13/95. [edit: Here is one more "I don't know" vote that should be "Rochester" Matt.]
