The face of the balancer does have cracks, but nothing major, just lots of little cracks.

azu'* post above was how mine was found to be bad on the 93 Park Avenue I had. I couldn't tell a thing from the video. I would check it like described in the above post and also check the supercharger nose pulley while the belts are off.

I have to say based on the audio it didn't sound like HB problem unless it is in the earlier stages on failing. I smoked mine due to a seized compressor pulley.Mine was such a louder horrible noise as if the engine had marbles rolling around.

Well I have decided to ignore the noise. I used my mechanic'* stethoscope and poked around, and the noise is not anywhere near the oil pan, it is kinda hard to track down. I also found that my SC noise is not the coupler, but more than likely the nose bearings, my dad is a CNC machinist that makes bearings, and he poked around with the stethoscope on the SC, and determined bad bearings in the nose. :(

mine has the same noise, i have been thinking it is likely the timing belt rattling against the tensioner?

I doubt you'd hear your timing chain rattling, if it even COULD rattle, even at high miles.

Mine sounds the same... A friend of mine, seems to think its a lifter. At 1k plus RPMs it pumps up, and runs fine.

Old post - locked

the general rule of thumb is that any topics that are more than a few months old - do not reply to them, rather start a new topic and reference the old one by copying the url address like this: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...=993228#993228

The main reason for this is that the information may have become outdated and it'* best to keep the most current discussions at the top of the board.
