For a while now I have been hearing this crackling noise from under the hood when at WOT ever since I put in the smaller pulley on the */C. Does anyone know what this may be or how i can fix it. Also the crackling is followed by a squealing noise from under the hood which i think is the belt slipping. I have goodyear gatorback but it may have been warn out since i was running the belt on there w/o adding the bigger belt tensioner pulley. Please help thanks

Something similar happened to me while back and it turned out to be the harmonic ballancer

Did you go with a smaller belt since you didnt go with the bigger tensioner pulley? If not thats probably where your belt slip is commin from.

i didnt go with a smaller belt cuz stupid autozone doesnt have a belt that was slightly smaller. So i went over to sullivan tire and ordered goodyear gator belts figuring the belt tensioner would take up all the slack. It worked for a while until i know it started to slip cuz i heard the squealing. Then after a while i finally bought the larger tensioner pulley to take in the slack. But from time to time i still hear the crackling noise when im really mashing on the gas mostly when im coming from dead stop.
